John Ward is an Associate General Counsel leading both the Legal Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) practice team and the Corporate/Securities practice team along with keeping an active docket of ongoing M&A projects. He joined the DuPont Company in 1979, working initially with DuPont Finance and then joined DuPont Legal in the Corporate/Securities practice. Having the opportunity to assist on a number of M&A projects in the early 1990′s, John then had the opportunity to become a founding member of the Legal M&A Core Team in 1994. In 1997, John and his family moved to London, England, where he spent nine months as an oil and gas lawyer with Conoco and then two years working on the IPO and spin-off of Conoco, along with a number of other M&A transactions for DuPont across Europe. He returned to the Legal M&A Core Team in 2000 and has led legal teams on a number of significant transactions, including the divestiture of DuPont Pharma and the acquisition of ChemFirst Inc.
John has been a committed volunteer with Delaware Hospice Inc., a local non-profit service agency, and has served on its Board of Trustees for over 14 years including two separate terms as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
John received an undergraduate degree in accounting from Bowling Green State University in 1976 and his J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1979.
