Leaders' Bios

Stacey J. Mobley is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer for DuPont, a global science company, and a member of the company’s Office of the Chief Executive. He has been with DuPont for 34 years and has senior management responsibility for legal and governmental affairs.

Mr. Mobley is a member of the board of directors of the Wilmington Trust Company, a financial services holding company headquartered in Wilmington, Del. He is also on the Board of Trustees of Howard University. Mr. Mobley received the LexisNexis Corporate Legal Times Distinguished Legal Service Award and the Howard University Alumni Award for Distinguished Postgraduate Achievement in the field of law in 2002. He was the 2003 corporate campaign chairman for the NAACP, and was named one of America's top black lawyers by Black Enterprise Magazine.

In June 2006, the National Law Journal named Mr. Mobley one of the nation's 100 most influential lawyers. In October 2006, the American Civil Liberties Union of Delaware awarded him the Gerald Kandler Award for outstanding leadership in the cause of civil liberties in Delaware. Mr. Mobley received the Association of Corporate Counsel Award for Excellence in Corporate Practice. Also in October 2006, he was named to the Law Dragon’s list of 500 leading lawyers. Mr. Mobley is also active in community charitable and philanthropic organizations in the Delaware Valley and in Washington, D.C.

 

Thomas L. Sager serves as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of the DuPont Company and also serves as the Chief Litigation Counsel. He helped pioneer DuPont’s Convergence and Law Firm Partnering Program and continues to have oversight responsibility for it. Through his leadership, this program has become a benchmark in the industry and has received national acclaim for its innovative approach to the business of practicing law. In addition, Mr. Sager’s responsibilities include oversight for all litigation and providing functional guidance to the regions.

He received his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1976. Mr. Sager serves as a board member for the CPR International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution; Delaware Law Related Education Center; the Minority Corporate Counsel Association; and the Atlantic Legal Foundation.

In addition, he is a member of the CPR National Task Force on Diversity in ADR; the ABA Diversity Center; the Board of Overseers at Widener University School of Law; Law Board of Visitors at Wake Forest University School of Law; and the NALP Foundation for Law Career Research and Education Board of Trustees. Mr. Sager is the Editor-in-Chief of “The DuPont Legal Model…A New Era, c. 1996, revised edition, 1997, Editor-in-Chief of “Leaps and Bounds: Moving Ahead With the DuPont Legal Model”, and Editor-in-Chief of the latest treatise on the principles and initiatives of the DuPont Legal Model, The Competitive Edge…The Growing Power of the DuPont Legal Model, c. 2005.

 

Martha L. Rees is Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, Chief Environmental Counsel, Chief Antitrust Counsel at DuPont. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University and her undergraduate degree from Purdue University. Ms. Rees is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.

She began her career at DuPont in 1973. Ms. Rees' legal experience includes working as a commercial attorney representing pharmaceuticals and agricultural products businesses, as a corporate and securities lawyer, special projects assignments focusing on product liability prevention with Engineering Polymers in particular, then across Corporation, as a federal lobbyist, and as an Associate General Counsel with a frequently shifting portfolio.

 

Sharon A. Leyhow is an Associate General Counsel and Chief Counsel International Trade, and Chief Counsel Product Compliance in DuPont Legal. Specifically, she is responsible for managing commercial and International trade lawyers.

Previously, she was the Associate General Counsel for Asia Pacific for DuPont. Located in Hong Kong, she was responsible for a group of 12 lawyers and three legal assistants throughout AP. Ms. Leyhow has held a variety of positions within Legal during her career at DuPont. She has advised the Safety Resources Business and Engineering Polymers on commercial matters. She also advised HR on benefit matters. In 2000, Ms. Leyhow was a recipient of The DuPont Marketing Excellence Award.

Prior to joining DuPont in 1990, Ms. Leyhow was Senior Manager for Ernst and Young in Atlanta, Georgia, and counsel for RJ Reynolds. Ms. Leyhow holds a BA degree in psychology from Smith College in Northampton, MA, and a J.D degree from Georgetown University School of Law in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the District of Columbia and Georgia Bars.

 

P. Michael Walker is Associate General Counsel and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel in DuPont Legal. He began his legal career in a private law firm in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1986 and joined DuPont in October, 1990. As Chief Intellectual Property Counsel, Mr. Walker has responsibility for legal policy matters related to DuPont patents, trademarks and other intellectual property.

Mr. Walker received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University and his J.D. degree from Notre Dame Law School. He is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Walker serves on the board of the Intellectual Property Owners organization and is a trustee of the American Intellectual Property Law Education Foundation. He is active in other professional organizations including the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel, the American Corporate Counsel Association, and the American Intellectual Property Association.

 

John Ward is an Associate General Counsel leading both the Legal Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) practice team and the Corporate/Securities practice team along with keeping an active docket of ongoing M&A projects. He joined the DuPont Company in 1979, working initially with DuPont Finance and then joined DuPont Legal in the Corporate/Securities practice. Having the opportunity to assist on a number of M&A projects in the early 1990's, John then had the opportunity to become a founding member of the Legal M&A Core Team in 1994. In 1997, John and his family moved to London, England, where he spent nine months as an oil and gas lawyer with Conoco and then two years working on the IPO and spin-off of Conoco, along with a number of other M&A transactions for DuPont across Europe. He returned to the Legal M&A Core Team in 2000 and has led legal teams on a number of significant transactions, including the divestiture of DuPont Pharma and the acquisition of ChemFirst Inc.

John has been a committed volunteer with Delaware Hospice Inc., a local non-profit service agency, and has served on its Board of Trustees for over 14 years including two separate terms as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

John received an undergraduate degree in accounting from Bowling Green State University in 1976 and his J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1979.
